Every day is a new adventure in which we should all be challenged to think outside the box and ask questions. Kumi Yamashita does just that with her incredible shadow art. She creates installation pieces that are constructed by using metal and wood templates along with the most intriguing materials to trace figures in very unlikely ways.
Intense light is shone on the strategically placed material that “bends” the light to create mind numbing installations. Her work makes us question all our expectations, by challenging our perceptions of predictable relationships between solids and their shadows.
