Our film series LOCAL FEATURE debuted with The Interrupters last week and the event was a smashing success!
Attendees arrived early to munch on some delicious snacks, including the scrumptious cupcakes provided by GiGi’s Bake Shop.
After a warm welcome from our ever-friendly Ranch Staff, Gala Gal Lauren Smith kicked off the event by talking about the powerful work CeaseFire (the film’s subject) to an eager audience.
After the screening, Daniel Nelson from Mercy Home and Mark Walsh from the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence joined Lauren for a thought provoking discussion about how the community at large can help stop youth violence in the streets of Chicago.
Through the generous donations of our attendees, we were able to raise a modest chunk o’change for our friends at CeaseFire to continue their mission.
But that ain’t all folks! In less than a month, LOCAL FEATURE will be back with a special program from the Chicago Film Archive! For more info, visit here.
As we launch this programming, let us know what sort of films you’d like to see and discussions you’d like to have. We’re working out our relationship with the food trucks of Chicago and we need at least 40 RSVP’s to be able to guarantee the delicious savory trucks at our event, so don’t hesitate! RSVP today!
