Ballet Folklorico Xochitl in Arts in the Dark 2023, Raf Winterpact Photography

Chicago is host to such a wide range of events at any given time, bringing people together, in environments that allow you to interact with the city around you. There are art showings and installations, music at cozy blues clubs and huge festivals, food tasting events in the parks, and so much more. That’s why at Catalyst Ranch we are always on the lookout for the next big idea. Where innovation and collaboration can add something new to the events we see each year for the holidays.

We found one that not only showcases a wealth of art, costumes and cultural talents, but creates that interactive atmosphere with the city and all in attendance. The exciting part is this one happens to be during that time of year when the ghouls and goblins come out to play! This Halloween will mark a major milestone for the event that is becoming a staple with artists throughout Chicago.

The Annual “Arts in the Dark” evening Halloween parade is back for its 10th anniversary as one of the most creative and diverse events for Chicago. Catalyst Ranch had to spotlight such an important creation. Not only do we see innovative art mediums being used in magical ways that enchant all who attend, but all the artists who bring the dazzling floats to life are given the opportunity to network and collaborate with top tier institutions.

For additional seasonal attractions, find info for a Día de Muertos art exhibit and more, at our Hispanic Heritage Month blog post.

This event gives access to platforms to those who would otherwise not have that ability.  It provides Chicago youth with a space to explore new ideas and innovations. Arts in the Dark shows us we’re connected — that we all have the desire to create and share, as collaboration is a defining aspect of humanity. Creativity has been the tool that gave us a way to communicate through speech and language, art and music. No matter the time in history, the country, race or ethnicity, the creation of music and art has always been at the root of who we are. To share in that and bring different groups together makes the event even more fulfilling.

So come and experience the Arts in the Dark Halloween Parade on Saturday, October 19th, from 6-8 pm in the heart of the Chicago Loop, on State Street moving south from Lake Street to Van Buren. Support this amazing celebration and have a blast doing it! We know we will! Learn more here.
